Charton Heston is one of the greatest film actors of our time. With legendary roles in movies like “Ben Hur” and “The Ten Commandments” there are few who can hold a candle to his resume. He went on to star in movies such as “The Planet of the Apes” and “The Omega Man”. He starred in well over 100 movies during his career as an actor.

He was an avid hunter and sportsman and went on to become the president of the National Rifle Association. His acting career ended in 2003 when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

He died today and left behind a wall of accomplishments. May he rest in peace.

Jaws Actor Roy Sheider has died today at age 75. He had been acting since the 1950’s and landed is first big role in 1975 as Police Chief Martin Brody in the Stephen Spielberg blockbuster “Jaws”.

According to his IMDB page he never really stopped acting. His final movie is in production for release in 2009. I didn’t actually realize he was this old. I remember seeing him in “The Punisher” a few years ago. He didn’t seem like somebody who’d be dead in just a few short years.

May he rest in peace.

Hollywood has lost a legend today. I am in total shock at the news of Heath Ledger’s untimely death. He was found dead in his appartment this afternoon. The cause is assumed to be an accidental sleeping pill overdose. This is simply tragic. He leaves behind a 2 year old daughter Matilda and his ex-wife actress Michelle Williams who stared with him in “Brokeback Mountain.”

Heath Ledger wasn’t the most well known actor out there but his role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman sequel was certainly going to propel his career to new heights. His fanbase had grown enourmously since he was first announced for the role back in 2006. The worst thing is that Heath won’t even get to see his groundbreaking performance this summer. Hopefully his scenes are done and able to be used in the final film. The Dark Knight is in post production which means that most if not all of the scenes have been filmed. His death will add a whole new level of darkness to the film. Based on what I’ve seen in the trailers so far, his role as the Joker will be his finest hour. It’s a terrible tragedy that he won’t be here to enjoy his work.

Ledger’s death will be listed among the likes of James Dean. His death came at a time when his career was just about to explode. May he rest in peace.

I’m sure everybody has heard about Paris Hilton going to jail… and coming out of jail, and now, just this morning she is BACK in jail. What a relief! Maybe for the next 45 days we can all enjoy watching the news without having to hear about her in every other news story. Seriously though, it’s annoying. She complains about the food in jail so they send her back to her house with an ankle bracelet? Considering that eating HOT DOGS is much safer than driving drunk, I’m not sure how that could have even been considered as a reason to let her out. Last I checked jail wasn’t supposed to be fun. Jail isn’t supposed to accomodate your expectations of it. Jail is supposed to flat out suck. It’s a punishment. Otherwise why not send all inmates to Paris Hilton’s mansion if they complain? I have a feeling a lot more people would be turning themselves in for crimes if they knew jail would be so fun. I’m glad that fluke is over though. I’m also glad to see that she isn’t getting as much of a double standard as people expected.

Speaking of double standards, even though she was sent back to jail for the remainder of her sentence, she won’t even have to be in the normal jail. Instead she will be in a nicer and more comfortable celebrity jail, supposedly to keep her away from other inmates that might want to mess her up. Or at least mess up her hair. Seriously she needs to come out of jail looking her best in 45 days, right? I wonder how much weight she will gain eating hot dogs every day for lunch.

…and Paris Hilton is about to be.. In jail that is. Maybe next time she will pay more attention to the rules of the road. Anyway, enough about her. Pirates 3 star Johnny Depp took home a trophy with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. It’s funny how Depp even managed to land his role in the popular movies. Apparently everybody thought he was not going to work out when they first started filming on the first movie. Then at the awards Bruckheimer was quoted saying “This is the man who did it all right here, Johnny Depp. Without him, we wouldn’t be here.” That’s probably true, and I find this pretty funny considering that Orlando Bloom and Kierra Knighly were both successful actors before the Pirates series as well.

Bloom had just finished coming off of his role as Legolas the elf in Lord of the Rings when he took the role of Will Turner in the popular pirate movies. I find it even more funny to know that originally Depp truly was planned to be a bad unlikable character in the script. Apparently his personality and “actual bad guy” didn’t entirely jive and instead we are left with a drunk pirate with too much eye shadow and a taste for rum. He certainly stole the show though. Without him, the pirates movies would be nothing more than Legolas and “that L’Oreal model from Pride & Prejudice.”

On a closing note, 9-year old Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith) won the award of “breakthrough performance” for his role playing Christopher Gardner’s (Will Smith) son in “The Pursuit of Happyness.” If you haven’t seen that movie yet I would definitely recommend it. It is very inspirational and shows you a true story about a man who chose not to be denied.
