I Am Legend” is immediately among Will Smith’s greatest movies. There are plenty of points in the movie where fans of the book will nitpick, but honestly if you watch it for what it is, a movie, then you’ll walk away quiet satisfied and then some. While it doesn’t follow the plot of the book to a T, it does capture the overall feel and sense of emptiness that one would expect to see in a such a world.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet and are bugged by minor spoilers then don’t read any further. While I won’t go into major plot spoilers I will touch on some basic plot elements.

Steve Carrell of “40 Year Old Virgin” and “The Office” is showing a new side in his latest persona “Dan” in the movie “Dan in Real Life”. He plays a newspaper columnist who’s life has come to a halt for the most part. In his column he gives advice for people in similar situations but when it comes to his own life he’s become a little too laid back. Lost his spark per say.

Through the course of the movie he takes several steps to move his life forward, back in the right direction. It’s an everyday story that will leave most viewers feeling satisfied. It’s funny, witty, casual, awkward, and an all around good time. He’s not the “Michael Scott” jerk Steve Carrel that we’ve come to know and love/hate. Instead he feels a lot more down to earth. Somebody you don’t feel bad about rooting for. “Dan in Real Life” is one for the entire family.

Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman make up the leading pair in this remake of “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. It’s actually a pretty decent movie if you are into paranormal and somewhat creepy movies. It’s by no means a horror movie but there are a few times that you’ll find yourself jumping.

The plot flows pretty well and carries the viewers through the story without much trouble. It’s weird seeing Daniel Craig in this role after seeing him in Casino Royale as James Bond. He’s much more down to earth and believable as a normal human being. As for Nicole Kidman, she’s Nicole Kidman. Nothing really spectacular about her performance but there wasn’t really anything wrong with it either.

If you like paranormal thriller’s then add this to your “to watch” list. I’d probably give it a 3 out of 5. Good but not great but definitely an interesting take on the original. It’s worth seeing if you’re looking for a good movie to watch but I wouldn’t bend over backwards for it.

There’s a new world record for most hot dogs eaten in 12 minutes. Hot dog eating champion Joey Chesnut took back the title for the Americans yesterday at New York’s annual hot dog eating contest in Coney Island. Here’s a video of the last half of the competition.

All I can say is there’s no way I could eat anywhere near 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes!

I’m sure everybody has heard about Paris Hilton going to jail… and coming out of jail, and now, just this morning she is BACK in jail. What a relief! Maybe for the next 45 days we can all enjoy watching the news without having to hear about her in every other news story. Seriously though, it’s annoying. She complains about the food in jail so they send her back to her house with an ankle bracelet? Considering that eating HOT DOGS is much safer than driving drunk, I’m not sure how that could have even been considered as a reason to let her out. Last I checked jail wasn’t supposed to be fun. Jail isn’t supposed to accomodate your expectations of it. Jail is supposed to flat out suck. It’s a punishment. Otherwise why not send all inmates to Paris Hilton’s mansion if they complain? I have a feeling a lot more people would be turning themselves in for crimes if they knew jail would be so fun. I’m glad that fluke is over though. I’m also glad to see that she isn’t getting as much of a double standard as people expected.

Speaking of double standards, even though she was sent back to jail for the remainder of her sentence, she won’t even have to be in the normal jail. Instead she will be in a nicer and more comfortable celebrity jail, supposedly to keep her away from other inmates that might want to mess her up. Or at least mess up her hair. Seriously she needs to come out of jail looking her best in 45 days, right? I wonder how much weight she will gain eating hot dogs every day for lunch.
