2008 Sumer Movie Lineup
This summer boasts a strong lineup of potential summer blockbusters. Here are the top 10 we have our eyes on:
Iron Man: Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark of Stark Enterprises in this comic book adaptation for the big screen. It’s set to turn a lot of heads. It will be interesting to see how it compares with the other comic book movies due out this summer.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian:Â Not necessarily one I’m personally looking forward to after seeing the first, but a very big movie nonetheless. Who knows. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised this time around. The first wasn’t that bad but it could have been a lot better.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:Â Harrison Ford is back as Indy in the 4th installment of the highly successful franchise. Let’s hope he can still crack that whip and take punches to the face. Shia LaBeouf will also appear this time around. He’s been rising fast and this movie likely will do good things for his career.
The Incredible Hulk:Â Not to be confused with “Hulk” from a few years ago… Edward Norton is Bruce Banner this time around. Generally Norton isn’t in movies that I regret seeing. Not only that but I’d like to replace that sour taste in my mouth from the last Hulk. This could very well be the ticket.
Get Smart:Â Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway star in this movie based on the 60’s TV show. Judging by the trailers it’s going to be pretty funny. Steve Carrell’s really been doing well lately. This is probably worth seeing, especially if you grew up in the 60’s and are a fan of the original show.
Wanted:Â James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie star in this modern day underground assassin film. It’s not a sequel and the plot isn’t based off of a book. Not much is known about this movie except that the trailer has some really cool action scenes. Could be pretty good.
Hancock: Will Smith plays a bum who also happens to be a superhero. How can you go wrong? This movie isn’t based off of any comic book either. It’s probably the first legitimate NEW superhero movie since “The Incredibles”. Obviously they are both very different in nature but Hancock looks like a winner so far.
Hellboy II:Â The first wasn’t my cup of tea but the comic books have a cult following. If you liked the first movie then you’re likely to enjoy the sequel.
Batman Dark Knight: Not much needs to be said to talk most people into seeing this when it’s released. Seriously. It’s the sequel to “Batman Begins”. Plus Heath Ledger’s Joker is supposed to be amazing. Enough said.
Tropic Thunder: Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr star in this action comedy. It looks pretty good. It’s probably worth seeing just to see Robert Downey Jr play a black guy. That in itself is very intriguing.
